A User is classed as a student, teacher or anyone else who uses www.thelessonshop.co.uk and its services.

Users are responsible for their own security when using any of the services found through The Lesson Shop and are solely responsible for the material they post. Users must not post or share defamatory, offensive, hateful, threatening or illegal material, content that is indecent, contains nudity, violence or other malicious viruses or malware. Users must immediately report to The Lesson Shop any such material they find on the website.

Users must exercise their own judgement regarding the accuracy of information provided on the Website. The Lesson Shop does not guarantee that all of the content listed is complete, accurate, true or up-to-date, nor can it guarantee this for the content listed on any linked Teacher websites.

Users must contact The Lesson Shop immediately if they believe their password has been compromised or their account has been accessed by any other party. Users are held responsible for any and all interactions conducted in their name until they have notified The Lesson Shop that they believe their password has been compromised. Users may be held responsible for any financial losses The Lesson Shop suffers due to malicious attacks, in instances where the User password was compromised and they did not inform The Lesson Shop at the earliest opportunity.

Users agree to adhere to The Lesson Shop terms & conditions and those who fail to comply with them may be immediately removed and have their account suspended, to prevent them from using the website and any related services. This will be determined at the discretion of The Lesson Shop management.

Students agree to adhere to all User Responsibilities as listed in the above section, as well as all Student Responsibilities listed in this section.

Students enter into a direct contract with the Teacher for all Lesson related matters. The Lesson Shop has no involvement with this process, accepts no liability in relation to the Teacher’s provision of Lessons and will not be held responsible for the level or quality of service offered by Teachers listed on our platform, or any interaction, communication, disagreement or lawsuit between any Student, Teacher or User whose initial contact (and any subsequent Lessons conducted) were initiated via The Lesson Shop platform.

Whilst The Lesson Shop verifies and checks all Teachers that have registered with us, we stress that Students must conduct their own due diligence and use their own judgement about the services of Teachers found on our website. Students are responsible for checking the legitimacy of Teachers including their references, expertise, qualifications, insurance policies, CRB/DBS checks or any other documentation.

The Lesson Shop does not knowingly collect personal information from persons under 16 years of age, and no part of The Lesson Shop service is directed to persons under the age of 16. Students under the age of 18 must be represented by a parent or legal guardian who also provides consent for them to attend any Lesson, or form any agreement to conduct a Lesson.

A Student must not post defamatory, slanderous or deliberately derogatory comments on The Lesson Shop rating and review platform about any Lesson or service. Whilst honest reviews are encouraged and accurate negative reviews are permitted, we will not be liable for any such reviews. The Lesson Shop will not be liable for any loss of reputation as a result of interaction between Users.

Nothing in these terms and conditions affects a Students’ statutory rights.

Teachers agree to adhere to all User Responsibilities as listed in the above section, as well as all Teacher Responsibilities listed in this section.

Teachers enter into a direct contract with the Students for all Lesson related matters. The Lesson Shop has no involvement with this process, accepts no liability in relation to the Teacher’s provision of Lessons and will not be held responsible for the quality of service offered by Teachers listed on our platform, or any interaction, communication, disagreement or lawsuit between any Student, Teacher or User whose initial contact (and any subsequent Lessons conducted) were initiated via The Lesson Shop platform.

If, however, The Lesson Shop deems the level of service being offered is below the standard we expect from our registered Teachers, we reserve the right to cancel, disable or terminate any listed Lessons and related Teacher accounts. The Lesson Shop may conduct reference checks, mystery shopper exercises and review the Teacher online rating, to determine whether a registered Teacher is offering an acceptable standard of service. No refund will be offered to a registered Teacher in these instances.

When a Teacher publishes Lesson content or information, they do so in the knowledge that it is published as public information and everyone (not limited to The Lesson Shop Users) will have access to that information and The Lesson Shop do not have control over what may be done with it.

To ensure The Lesson Shop are able to provide the best possible service to its Users, Teachers agree to make sure their Lesson listings and content pages are accurate, up-to-date and regularly monitored to ensure relevant updates are added at the earliest opportunity.

Teachers will also ensure they don’t – send or post unauthorised commercial communications (such as spam); upload viruses or other malicious code; bully, intimidate, or harass any User; use the website to do anything unlawful, misleading, malicious, or discriminatory; do anything that could disable, overburden, or impair the proper working of The Lesson Shop website or services such as a denial of service attack; or facilitate or encourage any violations of these terms of service.

If a Teacher believes that a review from a Student or User about their Lesson or service is inaccurate, offensive, derogatory or slanderous they can contact The Lesson Shop administration and request a removal of the review. The Lesson Shop will act to remove any such content at our own discretion, but will not be liable for any loss of reputation as a result of interaction between Users.

If a registered Teacher breaches any of these terms, their account will be terminated and they will not be offered a refund of any subscription payments they have made. Any existing subscription payment covering the calendar month (at the time of termination) will be forfeited and no further payment will be taken from the Teacher by The Lesson Shop.

The Lesson Shop does not charge Students for any Lesson or service. Students enter into a direct contract with the Teacher for all Lesson related matters and The Lesson Shop has no involvement with this process.

Teachers that have registered an account with The Lesson Shop will be able to list their Lesson with no sign up fee and will be offered a period of two months free listing. At the end of this free period the Teacher will be offered the option to continue using The Lesson Shop platform for a monthly subscription fee, or to cease their listing. If the subscription option is chosen then payment will be taken, the listing will stay active/be reactivated and the new subscription will start from that date.

All subscription payments will be made by the Teacher via direct debit, standing order or bank transfer on a monthly or annual basis depending on the subscription type chosen. The monthly subscription will start from the first day after the free trial has ended and will continue to be required on the same date for each subsequent day month until cancelled by the Teacher.

If a payment is missed then the Lesson listing will be temporarily disabled and The Lesson Shop will attempt to make contact with the Teacher to take payment or establish the reason for a missed payment. The Lesson listing will be disabled until payment is made, for up to one month, at which stage if payment is not received the subscription will be cancelled.

If a Teacher decides to cancel their subscription, they must contact The Lesson Shop with an official cancellation request. No refund will be due.

The Lesson Shop will conduct verification checks on all registered Teachers and in some instances may check identification documents, insurance details, latest qualifications or conduct CRB/DBS checks. However, all details listed on our website are for informative purposes only and The Lesson Shop are not responsible should any Teacher or Lesson turn out to be providing misinformation or behaving in a way that is unreliable, misleading or illegal. All Users should exercise complete caution when interacting with Teachers and The Lesson Shop cannot guarantee with absolute certainty that Teachers are who they say they are.

The Lesson Shop conducts reviews of Lesson listings on our website in an effort to ensure the information is as accurate and up-to-date as possible, but any and all information provided is for informative purposes only and The Lesson Shop does not guarantee that all of the content listed is complete, accurate, true or up-to-date, nor can it guarantee this for the content listed on any linked Teacher websites. The Lesson Shop provides contact details and direct links to Teacher websites, where Teacher information, contact details and prices can be found or acquired directly.

Only registered Users are able to post Ratings & Reviews about Lessons and we endeavour to ensure that all Ratings & Reviews are accurate, legitimate and truthful. All reviews submitted by registered Users are checked by The Lesson Shop administration staff before being approved and shown on the live website.

To ensure the information found on our online Ratings & Reviews system is not only reliable and truthful, but that it also gives a fair and accurate representation of the Lesson or Teacher, we do not block or filter negative reviews, but we give Teachers the option of providing a response or feedback and allow Users to amend their review should they choose.

Whilst honest reviews are encouraged and accurate negative reviews are permitted, a Student must not post offensive, defamatory, slanderous, accusatory or deliberately derogatory comments on The Lesson Shop Rating & Review platform about any Lesson or service and we will not approve any such reviews. The Lesson Shop will not be liable for any loss of reputation as a result of interaction between Users.

If a Teacher believes that a review from a Student or User about their Lesson or service is inaccurate, offensive, defamatory, slanderous, accusatory or deliberately derogatory they can contact The Lesson Shop administration and request a removal of the review. The Lesson Shop will act to remove any such content at our own discretion, but will not be liable for any loss of reputation as a result of interaction between Users.

The Lesson Shop believes all Users of our platform have a responsibility to ensure the safety and welfare of children is their highest priority and to practise in a way that protects children from any harm. The Lesson Shop takes all necessary measures to ensure any listed Teachers provide a safe environment for all Students they deal with, including those under the age of 18.

The lesson category advertised as “Children’s Lessons” is designed to help parents or carers find suitable services for children under their supervision. This is not a service designed to help children find or attend lessons without the involvement or supervision of a parent or carer.

The Lesson Shop does not recommend that Students under the age of 18 attend any form of Lesson without the supervision of their parent or carer. There may be situations where this is not feasible, for example driving lessons where the student can legally attend the lesson at the age of 17 and the supervision of a parent or carer may be unnecessary and/or impractical. In these instances, the Student and their parent or carer attend the Lesson at their own risk and The Lesson Shop will not accept liability for incidents that arise should any User of our platform who is the parent or carer of a child under the age of 18 leave their child in the sole care of a Teacher.

The Lesson Shop reserves the right to terminate access to any User account or access to the website and its related services, at any time and without the notice, in cases where we deem a violation of any of these terms and conditions has been committed.

All Users acknowledge that they use The Lesson Shop at their own risk and are fully responsible for their interactions with other Users; agreeing that it is their responsibility to take precautions in all interactions with other Users, Teachers or Students.

The Lesson Shop has no responsibility and is not liable to monitor or resolve disputes between Users but will offer assistance where possible.

In no event will The Lesson Shop be liable for; any economic losses of any users (including loss of revenues, profits, contracts, business or anticipated savings), any loss of reputation as a result of interaction between Users (including those via our rating and review system), any damage to or loss of data.

To the extent permitted by law the User will be liable for any loss or damage The Lesson Shop suffers due to the Users breach of these terms and conditions, or deliberate misuse of the website.

The Lesson Shop reserves the right change these terms and conditions and will endeavour to inform Users of any changes via email. Users will be bound by the revised terms and conditions if they continue to use the website or the services.

These terms and conditions and the associated Agreement is bound by the laws and regulations of United Kingdom. If any part of these terms and conditions is found to be unenforceable in law, we will endeavour to make relevant changes and the other terms and conditions will remain still in force.

“User” – is any third party that uses the website whether they are registered or non-registered. Anyone that accesses the website is considered a User.

“Student” – is a User who has a registered account on the website specifically as a Student.

“Teacher” – is a User who has a registered account on the website specifically as a Teacher.

“Lesson” – is any of the products found via any search method on the website. All Lessons have been created by Teachers or The Lesson Shop employees to display the service that Teachers offer.

“Website” – refers to www.www.thelessonshop.co.uk

“Teacher website” – refers to an external website offering Lessons that The Lesson Shop links to via a Lesson product page.

“Ratings & Reviews” – refers to our online system that enables registered Users to rate a Lesson from 0 to 5 stars and also leave a detailed review of the Lesson and their experience.

“The Lesson Shop” – is a trading name of The Lesson Shop Ltd. Registered as a company in England and Wales no 15379391.
